In the context of the EU 2020 strategy and the annual monitoring of the performance of EU and its member states in competitiveness, the European Commission published on October 10, 2012 two reports:
- The 2012 European Competitiveness Report, which monitors the progress of indicators at EU level in five individual sectors: (1) productivity and skills, (2) export performance, (3) innovation and sustainability, (4) business environment and infrastructure, (5) finance and investment.
The British Graduates Society (BGS), in collaboration with the British Council, is hosting the event at Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki on Wednesday, 14 November at 18.30-21.30, (66 Vas.Olgas), following the enormous success of the BGS event in Athens in the framework of the "2012 Global Entrepreneurship Week".

The 2012 annual SME newsletter published by the European Commission in the context of the European SME Week reflects the state of play of SMEs in Greece and the progress which has been made in the last year as regards the pillars of the Small Business Act initiative.
The report highlights the significance of the SME sector for the Greek economy, given that SMEs account for 99.9% of businesses (96.6% of which are micro-enterprises) and represent 70.2% of the value-added and 85.2% of unemployment.
On December 7, 2012 a Business Idea Competition will take place in ECCI premises. There will be presented (in English) 30 ideas within 4 minutes + 4 minutes question each.
Erasmus incoming students may also participate in this round!
All the Business Ideas Presentations will be assessed by a special committee.
The assessment criteria are the following:

The biggest Business Simulation ever in Greece!
Moreover, Fund Raising Simulation for the first time in Greece!! It will take place on November 24, 2012. 200 participants divided in or 30 groups of 6-7 persons taking into consideration their idea upon registration.
The groups will follow a Business Simulation under the guidance of mentors (they will do the coaching to the groups)
The mentors are supplied with virtual “fund” of 100.000 “euros”.
