This year AIPPI’s (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property) congress, the 43rd World Intellectual Property Congress that will be held in Seoul between October 20 and 23rd, 2012, will provide a forum for lively discussions on world-wide issues in the field of IP, including the most recent developments relating to patent law harmonization, international trademark issues and copyrights, as well as the enforcement of IP rights.

This Guide outlines the provisions relevant to the filing of European patent applications, offering practical advice to smooth the way to a European patent. It cannot, however, go into the details or specific issues of the European patent grant procedure, and it does not constitute an official commentary on the European Patent Convention (EPC).
