In the framework of the new Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020, the European Commission presented on November 30th 2011 the basic features and the Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a Programme for the Competitiveness of enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises– COSME for the new programming period 2014-2020.
With a total budget of € 2.5 billion, the general objective of the new programme, in line with the Europe 2020 strategy, is to create the conditions for European enterprises to flourish and for small and medium sized enterprises to take full advantage of the Single Market and markets beyond it.
It is estimated that the programme will provide, annually, help to 39,000 enterprises for the creation or the rescue of 29,500 jobs and the promotion of 900 new ventures, either products, or services or processes.
More concretely, the activities that will be funded through the programme are as follows:
- Improvement of the framework conditions for the competitiveness and sustainability of European Union enterprises, including in the tourism sector
- Promotion of entrepreneurship, including among specific target groups, especially new entrepreneurs, young people and women
- Improvement of access to finance for SMEs, in the form of equity and debt
- Improvement of access to markets, inside the Union and globally.
The new programme will be, in great part, the successor of the existing Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme – EIP.
The General Secretariat for Industry is putting the proposal for the establishment of the new programme in consultation aiming at the formation of the Greek positions that will be supported during the negotiations for the adoption of the programme’s legal base and invites all interested partiesto take part in the consultation by sending comments to the electronic address solomou_e@ypan.gr or mme@ypan.gr until February 24th 2012.
